Emily Keene 5th Period April 27, 2017 John F. Kennedy was the 35th president of the United states of America. John F. Kennedy consistently gets the highest approval rating of any president since Franklin Roosevelt but yet he does not have a monument in the capital, Washington D.C. Why is it that even after visiting the assassination spot and Visitors from all over the world have written many tributes called “Our greatest President.” “Oh, how we miss him!” “The greatest man since Jesus Christ.” , But yet ‘the greatest man since Jesus Christ’ Doesn’t have a monument in D.C. John F. Kennedy was only in the white house for 3 years, but in those years he was also responsible for some extraordinary accomplishments. The most important, and most famous, was his amazing management of the Cuban missile crisis in 1962. John F. Kennedy one of the best, most credited presidents of the United States deserves a monument in D.C. because of the amazing choices he made and the sacrifices he made for this country. “A tree is identified by its fruit.” is the quote I am using it’s from the Bible Matthew 12:33.
This quote can be interpreted many ways, one way can be if you are mean on social media like instagram then people will interpret you as a mean person and won’t want to be near you. Another way people Interpret it is if you are sweet and nice on social media like instagram then you will probably be nice and sweet in person and this will draw more people and friends to you. The way I interpret it is if you act a certain way than you may be that type of person.
Emily Keene March 3, 2017 5th Period Apple is one of the world's biggest phone companies and the FBI are not on good terms and here’s why. Apple wouldn’t create the software to hack a terrorist phone for an FBI investigation. Apple should’ve unlocked the phone to help the FBI catch or learn knowledge on the terrorists.
The FBI needed Apple’s help to get the information needed but instead, it took longer to get in the end. According to Randall G. “Holcombe, the FBI wanted Apple to write new software to unlock the phone in order to help it search for the information.” The FBI needed Apple to hack the terrorist iPhone to get the information about the terrorist acts they have committed. The FBI also needed the information to keep from another terrorist attack and with the knowledge in the phone they could try to do this. But because Apple refused to create the software this slowed the investigation down and also puts american citizen lives in danger. Is the value of your brand worth more than the safety of American citizens lives. Apparently at Apple yes the value of the brand is worth more than the safety of American citizens lives. According to Randall G. Holcombe “The argument that Apple was refusing to unlock the phone for business reasons, to protect the value of its brand.” One of the reasons Apple refused to hack the iPhone was to protect the value of its brand, Apple protected the value of the brand instead of helping the FBI get knowledge of terrorist thoughts and acts. Every time a terrorist act occurs several American citizens is put in danger. Knowing what is on this iPhone could keep even more terrorism from happening, but Apple chose the value of its brand over the safety of American Citizens. Apple’s refusal to help the FBI has now set them back by at least three months. According to Whitt Flora, “Cook responded to the FBI’s request in December with an open letter labeling the request a “breach of privacy” with “chilling consequences” for free speech. His action, now seemingly vindicated, nevertheless, has set back the efforts of the FBI to stanch terrorism by at least three months.” After the FBI asked for Apple’s help the CEO sent a letter saying that Apple would not help because it is a breach of privacy. Since Apple refused the FBI had to do it themselves causing them to be set back in their investigation by at least three months. Apple not only thinks that privacy is more important than safety but now has effected the FBI’s investigation. Apple should’ve unlocked the phone to help the FBI catch or learn knowledge on the terrorists. The FBI needed Apple’s help to get the information needed but instead, it took longer to get in the end. Is the value of your brand worth more than the safety of American citizens lives. Apple’s refusal to help the FBI has now set them back by at least three months. Have you ever owned a goat? Owning one can be the most rewarding experience ever. To make care much easier you should learn how to properly give them injections. Giving injections will make caring for the goat easier because it can save you time, money or the goats life. There are many important aspects and benefits to giving Injections. Several of the aspects depends the type of medicine and the size of the goat. There are two types of shots that you can administer to goats. According to Infovets.com “A subcutaneous injection, a needle is inserted just under the skin. Intramuscular Injection (IM Injection) intramuscular injection is a technique used to deliver a medication deep into the muscles. This allows the medication to be absorbed into the bloodstream quickly.” and according to Mother Earth News “It's an interesting thing about labels:They usually contain information on dosages and correct administration almost everything.” The reason you need to know what type of injection the shot is important so you don't harm your animal, or cause unnecessary pain that can cause the animal to shy away from you. There are many important aspects that go into learning to give injections, and the benefits after learning how to give injections. One of these aspects is knowing the type of shot it is, there are two types of shots. There are several different types of needles and sizes of syringes to chose from for the goats care. According to ‘Giving Medication To Animals By Injection’ “The proper technique of giving an injection starts with selecting the correct needle size to accommodate the type of injection. Most goat medications or vaccines can be given with 20 or 22G needles for thin, watery solutions or 18 to 20G needles for thicker medications.”. There is a lot of sizes of needles and syringes but there is only a few regularly used for goats. The most common sizes of syringes we use is 3 mL and 6 mL but they can go larger or smaller as well. The most common sizes of needles we use is 18x1 and 20x1 , but there is a select few for special medications that is longer and/or thicker. After you have figured out which needle and syringe to use you need to screw them together insert the medication in the syringe and then check for any air in the needle. After you have the syringe filled with the medication you should rack or restrain your goat, then pulled a tent of skin behind the shoulder, then insert the needle into the skin making sure you don’t go through both layers and insert the medication when done, take out the needle then rub the spot to keep from forming a knot and put the goat away. There are many benefits to learning how to give injections to a goat. According to ‘How to Give Your Goat an Injection’, Giving injections is easy after you get over any fear you might have. It can help to have an experienced person demonstrate the technique before you try it. You can also practice by injecting into an orange — just remember to dispose of your practice needles and syringes. Another benefit of learning how to give shots to goats or an other animals is that you don't have to go to the vet if you have the medicine and know how to use it safely. There are many important aspects and benefits to giving Injections. Not only does it make it easier for caring for your goat it makes sure you can do it if you goat has an emergency. There are two types of shots that you can administer to goats you need to know the difference of these and administer the correct one for the correct medicine. Jan 12, 2017 5th Period Leave being Famous to the Celebrities. Many people want to be famous for all of the delicacies and attention celebrities receive, but some people like me don’t want to be famous for the downfalls it has like you always are trailed by paparazzi or you can’t go to many public places without interruptions, fans or paparazzi. When asked if I want to be famous, I’ll answer with no because I want to have a close social life and several close friends. “Celebrities do have friends, though, right?” Of course. But according to Rockwell, it can be difficult for a celebrity to trust others and to make and keep true friends. Stars have to wonder if their “friends” like them for who they are or for what they have.” Many stars can have problems having and maintaining friends, many friendships grow with time and connections to your’s and their community, but being famous can mean that you don’t have the time for that. When asked if I want to be famous, I’ll answer with no, but a lot of other people would say yes. A lot of people want to be famous because of the money. “She spends her days doing what she loves. She earns more money from one movie than most people make in a lifetime.” Many think if you make money that then you are finally know and important, but I would rather be important to my family and friends than to many people that I don’t know. When asked if I want to be famous I’ll answer no because I want to be truly happy. “Despite their fame and fortune, many celebrities may not be as happy as they seem. According to a recent study, true happiness derives from having close relationships, time to focus on personal growth, and connections to your community. The celebrity lifestyle can make those things extremely difficult.” As stated in the text evidence happiness comes from having time to focus on personal growth both mentally and physically, but how can you focus on the best you when you’re in magazines and papers talking about how you’re ‘weird’ or ‘different’. Leave being Famous to the Celebrities. Being famous has several advantages like attending award shows, earning a tremendous amount of money, buying and getting loads of clothes from designers and fame. While being famous has advantages it also has various downfalls like having no privacy, having to handle massive amounts of stress and being okay and handling that you are always being judged. While being famous has several amazing advantages there are various downfalls, and because of that when asked if I want to be famous I’ll answer no. Text evidence from Mackenzie Carro’s ‘Can fame and Fortune make you happy?’ My Christmas Break went great. My Christmas break went great, because I got the gifts I wanted from my parents and grandparents. The presents I got from my parents were a pair of wireless beats headphones, a suture set, boots and clothes. The gifts i got from my Grandparents on my Mom’s side was a board game. The gifts I got from my Dad’s side of the family was a playstation game, a pop socket, bath and body works. My Christmas Break went great. Christmas break was great because my Birthday is New Year’s Eve so I never have school on my Birthday. The gift I got from my Parents was a Beats Pill speaker. The gifts from my grandparents was a 50 dollar gift card for Barnes & Noble and 20 dollars, My cousin, Maddie Gahring, got me a 20 gift card. For my Birthday we had some of our close friends and family come over for the game and we smoked pork for that night. My Christmas Break went great. Last night for my Birthday Maddie, Liz, Emma and I all went to ride Go- Karts in Medina. Because we had to wait so longer we went running around stores and ate at Quaker Steak & Lube. When we came back to ride we saw Jackson, Kadon and Lathen were also there.
Emily Keene Nov 17, 2016 Period 5 Although I’m only a mere 13 years old, I know what I want to be when I grow up. I enjoy working in a calm, collective environment, but still ready to handle an emergency. I love to have the ability to help people. I also love the topic of Anatomy, which is the study of the structure and working of the internal organs. Currently, I’m getting A’s and B’s which accounts for my 3.5 GPA in the eighth grade. I will hopefully increase my grades to all A’s and improve my study habits in high school because I want to attend EHOVE, and then college. When I grow up, I want to be a Surgical Assistant. When I grow up I want to be a Surgical Assistant. In order to be a Surgical Assistant I must know what traits that can help me receive scholarships are required. “Activities that include data, detail, and regular routines. They do well at jobs that need: Self Control, Attention to Detail, Dependability, Integrity, Stress, Tolerance and Concern for Others.” I will strive at this because I have those traits and pay attention to data and detail. “The student must achieve a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a grade of “C” in all courses required for the program.” I have always held a Grade Point Average of 2.5 or higher and usually get all A’s and B’s, and it will be easy if I practice better study habits and work hard. I believe that I have the skills to be a great Surgical Assistant because of my interest in the credentials needed for this degree and job of the Health Science Courses I have Attended . “General Overview of Courses Include: General Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology’ Several of the needed classes and topics that I have had the chance to try I love, like Health Science and Anatomy.” I would love the chance to try the other topics like Biology and Microbiology that’s why I will go to all the Health Science Classes that I can. I have the skills that are said to be needed for a Surgical Assistant. “Surgical Assistant skills: Nerves of steel, A strong stomach, Attention to detail, Thick skin, Adaptability.” I have several of these traits like a strong stomach meaning I can see blood and not get squeamish, Attention to detail, thick skin meaning that I won’t get discouraged if someone says that I can’t or that I don’t do well enough for this job, adaptability meaning I can go from department to department for different types of surgery, and nerves of steel meaning I can stand still for many hours doing surgery or assist an high risk surgery. To become a surgical assistant I will need at the very least six years of college. “Ohio’s new College Credit Plus can help me earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities.” I plan on going to Ehove during high school. If I go to EHOVE, I can be done with 1 or 2 years of college for practically nothing, that’s why I believe Ehove is the smartest route to take with my education. Before Career day I wanted to be a surgeon, wanted to be a surgeon because I could help people and it is a nice, good paying job. I looked into being a surgeon and I found out by the time I have college and residence done I will be 30 years old. I am not interested in being 30 by the time I start my career, so I am looking into a long and lifetime career. Before Career day I thought it was easy to earn money if you worked hard enough and had a good job, I still believe that but now I know that is not easy to earn and save money. Before Career day I thought it was easy to save your money, but now I know it's harder than that.
I learned that child care and insurance costs a lot more than I thought it did. At the end of Career day I have more appreciation for my parents because they have both of these things for the safety of us, their children. I also learned that many people, excluding myself, needed a second job to pay of their essentials. I have more appreciation for my parents getting a good education so they didn’t need a second job and they could be at home more. I learned that the job field i'm looking into, the medical field is a blooming business and a needed job for the future. I also learned that many medical jobs are a part of STEM and are going to be great jobs for our generation of education. What I took away from the whole thing was that our education matters and that it is needed to get a good job. I also took away that if we don’t get a good education that we will need a second job and that means less time with our families. I am on Hillary Clinton’s side because I feel that she will help and solve America’s problems.
Hillary Clinton is the most experienced Presidential Candidate that is running for office. Hillary Clinton has had plenty of experience being in charge of major events that are happening in the United States. Like serving as secretary of state, first lady of the United States, a practicing lawyer and law professor, and an activist. Hillary Clinton has had experience at having to make a situation better for everyone, not just Democrats like how she will make stricter gun laws in order to keep everyone safe. Hillary Clinton is here to make improvements for everyone, she often listens to the problems of her and Donald Trump’s voters and and tries to make solutions specific to those problems. Hillary Clinton is trying to control gun rights, she’s not trying to take the guns away, but Donald Trump is saying that she is trying to take away our gun rights, but she is actually trying to allow everyone to feel safe and protected. Hillary Clinton isn’t looking to make the people who own legal guns upset, she is looking at the mass shootings that are happening where more and more people are getting guns and injuring or killing people because there is very little control over the access of guns. If we would have more gun control these shootings would be reduced or maybe they wouldn’t happen. ‘Gun control’ and ‘gun rights’ are not synonyms and mean very different things to different people. For gun advocates, "gun control" means a sensible effort to create a greater level of accountability and regulation when it comes to firearms. Hillary Clinton believes that everyone deserves an equal and advanced education. Hillary Clinton believes that every child that is legally in the United States, no matter his or her background, should be guaranteed a high-quality education. Hillary promises that she will Rebuild America’s schools, and Provide every student in America an opportunity to learn and to thrive. If we do get a higher-quality education we can start to get more jobs back. America should vote for Hillary Clinton because she has had many opportunities to show how capable she is and she has shown us that she would make a great leader and is able to find solutions for her voters and all americans’ problems. Hillary is trying to fix the economy and the society. Hillary will try to get jobs back by having a better education and to make people feel safe inside and outside of their homes. Hillary Clinton will make Americans happier and safer. Paragraph 1
This summer I went to Hilton Head, South Carolina with the Ott, Gahring and my family we all shared a house on the beach, and had an awesome time. Most nights we ate shrimp and other seafood, but one night us kids got to make shrimp Alfredo for everyone. All week we would find tons of sand dollars and such , but on the last day there we saw a five foot shark and it killed a smaller one which Maddie Gahring held. The whole group went to the 'salty dog cafe' and we got shirts and ate, later at the mall compact next to it I got a Selfie with parrots. Paragraph 2 My Middle School goals are to get all A's and B's this year and maintain them through the whole year. How i'm going to maintain them is by studying more and asking for help when I need it.Another goal I want to achieve in middle school is to find a medical program that I like for freshman year, and go look at the place and its classes. Paragraph 3 The reason I am looking for medical program is because I want to be a orthopedic or a pediatric surgeon. The reason I want to be a surgeon is so I can help people. Another thing I love about medical is anatomy, I find anatomy interesting because you get to see the body parts and see what they do and what their functions are. Emily Keene Sept 9,2016 My hero is my great grandfather ,Noah Sammons, He is my hero because he lived life to the fullest and had fun doing it and did everything that he ever wanted to do and didn't care what people thought. He is a World War II veteran of the US Army he served in the European Theater, a place of heavy fighting during World War II, where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart and many other medals. Some of the characteristics that makes Noah my hero is that he was so open to exploration and had many amazing adventures. Another characteristic that makes him my hero is that he was gentle and kind. Some of the adventures that they went on were the original owner/operators of Curly's Drive-In restaurant, Where hound dog hop is now, and he also lived in Florida they ended up living next to the granddaughter of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings the author of 'The Yearling'. Noah and Hazel later returned to Mansfield in 2007 to be closer to family. Noah liked camping and fishing with his family and was an advide hunter. Noah Sammons is my hero because when I saw the relationship he had with Hazel I saw that it was loving and that he put her health in front of his own. I find there relationship with each other inspiring to people that had bad relationships or lost their significant other. Noah is my hero because he learned from his life experiences, but he still had fun and knowledge.
